Vintage Postcards – Interesting Pieces of History

While perusing my neighbor’s garage sale, I ran across a small bag of postcards that she had collected over the years. I’ve always been interested in greeting cards and stamps, but never gave much attention to postcards since they have pretty much become all but obsolete in the days of email and texting. I’ve even become a guilty participant in e-cards in exchange for a much more personal hand-signed card from Hallmark. What a shame.

After sifting through the cards and paying my $2 for the entire bag, I took them home for a closer look. Many were from the 30′s, which I found intriguing. It’s like holding history in your hands. I smiled as I read the personal messages to friends and family- expressing their excitement and happiness of great events and relaxing vacations.

I’ve scanned in a few for you to view, and will try to add more at a later date. Some of the cards were tattered and torn, but most have amazingly survived the test of time.
